The last 21" StudioDisplay we had did in fact have USB connections. Regardless, Steve, Andrew, and Chris are all right. It is too old to be reliable. Even when new the self-calibrating displays were not as good as one calibrated with third party

Another question though. You did not mention whether or not you are using the Postscript version of ImagePrint or whether you are handling your 7600 as an RGB device or not. I guess I'm a little confused as to your actual workflow. I own several

TC3.5 and the standard it8 did a better job for press profiling. This will of course vary depending on the press conditions and how tightly they are controlled. If you were profiling your inkjet as CMYK then I would say absolutely use the ECI2002

If part of your business is going to include a good bit of contract proofing you may indeed want to look at other RIPs more suited to proofing. While Imageprint is capable of this it really wasn't designed to do this. It was designed to give people

pleasing final output...and it does it great! If I were looking to do a lot of proofing I might take a good look at ColorBurst X-Proof, or maybe BEST ColorProof. FYI you can download a fully working demo of X-Proof and use it for 15 days for free!

Good luck..and let us know how it all works out!
Eric
My Studio Display is USB as well. I'd been using the internal calibration but have begun using Spectrolino and Profilemaker. A new display might not be coming due to budget restrictions but it won't stop me from pushing it. I am aware of some of the
tools to make the 9600 a SWOP certified device but, for the same reasons, that's not likely to happen soon. The bottom line is that I'd like to be able to trust what I proof to be a reasonable representation of what to expect on a press run so I can
adjust the files accordingly. This is why I want to build as accurate a profile for my vendors as possible. I've sent them the ECI2002R CMYK.tif and will also send representative images to run alongside.
I run Imageprint as a PS RIP. I output Photoshop files as randoms and when I need to I have our Creative staff write Quark documents to Postscript and output these files.
Thanks for the input.
