Has anyone been able to see a comparison between the Sigma camera using
the Fovian sensor. Sigma advertises an image sensor somewhere from 3 to
4 megapixels But this is the array size because each pixel counts for
an individual R, G nd B because they line up vertically. Now the Bayer
CCD is a checkerboard like array that my Kodak has. In the highest
resolution - which I very rarely use is something like 13.7 megapixels.
So I'm wondering; does the Sigma send 3 bytes of data for each
advertised pixel due to the image sensor design whereas the Kodak sends
one byte for each pixel?
I have used the Kodak in the highest res and like Dave Creek notes it
doesn't necessarily yield a better output. It does loose sharpness for
some reason. The best results are the 6 mp mode - 3000 x 2000. I figure
that 3000 pix from the camera (3000 pixels from 36 mm is more than and
inch) stretched out to 10 inches on a print is about 300 printer dpi's -
give or take a few due to cropping - and my prints are crystal clear.
This works for me since the highest res setting on the camera really
slows the camera down too much.
Any experience on the Sigma would be helpful
Thanks
