I concur with the information Andrew supplied (below). If you're doing
full upgrades from v4 to v5 you'll retain your old dongle, and most
probably the functionality of both v4 and v5. But I would not assume
that this last benefit is an official GretagMacbeth policy until the
product ships or until an official declaration by GretagMacbeth has
been made.
Also, Thomas pointed out that it's very possible you may want to buy
only individual modules of ProfileMaker v5 in which case you'll end up
with a new v5 dongle for the individual module just like in v4. And
although GretagMacbeth has similar product modules as in v4, they've
also added more flexibility/confusion in the v5 pieces you buy. For
example, if you simply want to buy the new Digital Camera Module (DCM)
with new Digital Color Checker Semi-Gloss (SG), you just can't buy one
product and be done as with v4; you must buy the DCM Software + Dongle
(together or separately) for $595 (List) and you must buy the DCM SG
separately for $295 (List). That's $890 (List) for the whole package.
There's more iterations for the DCM, whole or partial Upgrades and many
other items that still need to be clarified, so stay tuned...
