I followed up with this printer and asked the very questions you raise
(without reference to the forum of course).
As for using the good-old PS4, no. But I did finally get from them that
they use a proprietary profile. And, I boldly asked if I might obtain
this profile to help everyone involved including my client which is
their client. They agreed and are emailing it to me.
As for a proofer, they use two. Fuji Pictograph and a Epson 10,000
using some special RIP. This is mute as my client is paperless
proofless pdf delivery.
As for RGB received? They convert it to their secret sauce proprietary
profile. And they admitted that their profile is closer than the
standard PS SWOP v2 which they also recommend.
