Thank you all for your responses. I think I was hearing these lame-ass
excuses from so many places that I was doubting what I knew to be 'right'.
I'm going to keep looking for a printer that gets it - properly. Thanks for
putting me back on track!

The above two statements/responses are absolute hogwash. Why would they
provide a proofing service if they could not match their proofs? What the
heck does "send test files and then match those by the numbers" mean?I'd
continue looking for a printer that is more savvy with color management, but
I guess I'm just particular that way. <g>
