For six years I have been creating separations with up to 380% TAC on
gloss coated sheets. Starting press wet densities are typically C & M
=
185, Y = 130, K = 225. The result is an expanded gamut, with
incredibly
dense blacks and an expanded tonal range.
Cheers,

Thank you Dick for your contribution.
Are you able to quote what colorimetry you obtain at those high
densities?
Same for Atkinson, if anyone would know.
I'm going to reserve my judgement until I see some CIELab values for
either
the Vanfu inks or yours, Dick.

Hi Roger,
I have never recorded CIELab values for color bars on press, and cannot
answer your question.
I should also point out that the measured density values on a dry sheet
are somewhat less than on the wet sheet, and therefore the spectral
values would be different as well between wet and dry sheets.
I do not own a portable spectro. The printer I work with most often
does have one, and I will try to obtain some measurements the next time
I am on press. I have a major book project that will be on press in
January. If we do a preliminary press test I shall include color bars
and a profiling IT8.7-3 target, and take some wet readings to compare
to the dry readings, and to the digital proof readings.
Cheers,
Dick Busher
