Actually, the HP20 I mentioned in an earlier post output a fairly decent
looking contone proof as far as sharpness, but attempting to simulate a
screen (dot proof) resulted in a very grainy/mottled appearance. We also
found it hard to keep the color consistent over time, perhaps due to
some of the issues Neil pointed out. The HP 5000's contone proofs looked
grainy to begin with and the screen simultaion was that much worse.
Haven't seen an HP 130 print, but I've heard others mention the HP5500
outputting "thick type", perhaps due to misting from the thermal
printheads.
