From your experience, could you tell us
which inkjet inks would exhibit a good spectral match to offset process inks
for proofing purposes? How badly do Epson Ultrachromes perform in this
regard compared to other choices?
My impression is similar to others in this forum. The Epson pigment inks
were noticeably worse than dye alternatives, while Ultrachrome is better,
but still worse in this regard than dye. On the other hand, Ultrachrome
has a good gamut, and results in very stable prints. None of the dye
based printers seem to be able to match the stability.
Sorry I can't really add any more world data than this. It hasn't been a direct
area of research for me, and I currently don't have access to the range of
printers (nor an interested employer) to investigate such things.
