Steve,
Assigning, converting to, or selecting the work space at the time of
document creation all give the same results. Workspaces matching calibrated
gamma=no banding. "Mismatches"=banding in shadows. When I get back to the
studio I'll try Graeme's suggestion of using 16 bit files.
