I've used both. And either is a huge step beyond using the Epson driver.
ImagePrint
Pros: "out of the box" setup; large user base (web forms may be a main
source of tech support)
Cons: limited tech support; per printer licensing; black box profiling
engine (because of this most enduser-created profiles are inferior to IP's);
StudioPrint
Pros: enduser can generate first-rate custom profiles; linearize the
printer; drive Epsons in native CMYK; latest version has complete profiling
solution built-in (minus a spectrphotometer); stellar tech support; very
responsive to their customer feedback in adding requested features
Cons: missing some minor production-oriented layout features that IP has
(some of these have been addressed in v11 I understand)
Can you tell which one I currently use ;-) ?
Process control is paramount to my workflow, I own a spectrphotometer, run
monochromatic inksets and like to tweak things to maximize the output of my
individual printers. These are things that led me to StudioPrint.
