Roger,

And just to add to what was already said by many, when spoken, we say "five thousand Kelvin", and not "five thousand degrees Kelvin", to match the fact that we dont use the little wiggle after the unit as in the Fahrenheit notation.

And let's not confuse the "K" and "k", the capital K is 1024 (and basically used only for computer memory quantities) while the lower case k is 1000. So we could (but should not!) say 5 kK to be correct and really confuse everybody.

Lastly, if I say "5000K", do I mean 5000 KELVIN or am I REALLY saying
5,000,000?? Would it be more proper (and shorter) to simply write
5KK??? This has been bugging me....all morning.

It's 5,000 degrees on the Kelvin scale. This is quite hot. I personally seen
CCT presented as 5000K in all the color and lighting litterature I've read
so far so I tend to stick with that terminology.
