What's the largest grid seen on an ICC profile, by the way? besides size and

software packages that deal with ICC profiles?

There is no real limit, except the 32 bit offset limit of the file format. Various profiling packages may have other limits. I've sometimes played with generating profiles with resolutions of 40-60. Something like the hardware color correctors used in the front end of Digital Cinema projectors allow for an RGB->RGB transform with up to a grid resolution of 100 cubed.
