I have been using the Colorburst Prepress, which only runs on Windows.
The pros are that it allows you to control all types of settings for output, such as gamma, ink densities, ink laydown sequence and lots of little things so you can really customize your proofer. Also, and most importantly, the tech support is great and real people answer the phones.
The cons are that there is no real GUI, there is no auto rotation, maximum ink test is visual, and sometimes you have to open up program functions in a text editor to change behavior. For instance, we are running pigment inks and it kept defaulting to dye, till I did a hard code change.
Overall it is pretty stable, but it did have some problems with our DCS files.
