Dear Roger,
You're right a physical realization of the CIE normalized D50
illuminant does not exist in this world. But what I intented to say was
that
the Spectro100xy has a physical illumination that is very close to the
D50 spectrum. And compared to the physical illumination of other
instrument
manufacturers (incandescent lamp) this approach conforms much better to
how we humans examine and assess digital proofs and prints.
This is what we always attempt to achieve - the closest approximation
to the human visual system. That´s why we designed the LStar-RGB
workingspace, and that´s why basICColor display 3.0, that will soon be
due for release, calibrates monitors to an L* luminance curve instead
of a gamma.
