Thank you Sam for your ideas.
Alas, the problem is not so simple as different User monitor resolutions.
Apple's 10.3.8 update quietly changed the permission handling between the
admin account and users.
Just before they were laid off, Sony's Artisan tech support gave me a
work around in Terminal to change the mode (ch mod) of the color profiles
to rw-rw-rw so that all users can read and write the profiles. I'll be
happy to forward these instructions to anyone who asks.
