See? That's the kind of absolutism belief I was talking about earlier: dots
are tangible to people whereas CIELAB is more abstract. Which do people have
a tendency to believe (for the wrong reason)?
I once encountered the very same reaction at a press approval. When I
insisted a 40" Komori press to match the colors from an inkjet proof
(regardless how it was done, which profilers, etc...) the press supervisor
tried to persuade me that the inkjet proofs were worthless because, among
other things it did not show the sacred dot, to which I vigourously stood
out against. I finally had the job removed from the press and ran, albeit a
week later and at their expenses, on another press in their plant. This time
the color was closer to the proof.
So dots alone, to me, as a voodoo printing religion are meaningless.
