Thank's for the link Tom Lianza. And thank's for your note Marco. This page
is an interesting link. I don't know if anyone noticed but I downloaded and
opened the four pieces of that main image in Apple Preview. I was suspicious
of Preview not having the capabilities of yielding any useful embedded ICC
profile information, but I was wrong. It turns out that, for instance, the
"Upper_Right.jpg" piece has an embedded sYCC-8bit profile, according to the
Tools > Get info menu. Unfortunately, GetInfo does not have any way of
indentifying further whether this corresponds to a V2 or V4 profile version.
But, hey, way to go Apple!
We'll have to take the web page creator word that sYCC corresponds to "v4
e-sRGB". Is this encoding gaining popularity now? Isn't that YCC the same as
in Kodak PhotoCD?
