My testing included new K3 inks as well. I found little to no benefit with
ColorVantage inks here in terms gamut, L value, or stability. Although, did
realize a more neutral Black ink (not warm like Ultrachrome Photo Black) and
really noticed the difference in price. I would definitely recommend
ColorVantage inks to Epson Photo Dye and original Ultrachrome ink users,
especially those creating their own profiles anyway.
Aside from their current offering, I think it would be really great for
PANTONE (or someone else) to come out with a Hi-Fi or Hexachrome ink set
replacing light cyan and light magenta. You want to talk about enhanced
gamut - I hope it's coming sooner than later because we will then have
incredible photo printers and spot color matching machines. Does anyone at
PANTONE care to comment on this? Come on - wet our whistles!
