2 - Press images to press gamut problem. This challenge DOES NOT
include the Epson, only the press. One of the colors I am having a
big problem with when comparing press images sheet to proofer
images sheet is a light red (6% M, 17% Y). I measured this color,
plotted it in ColorThink and it is in the proofer gamut BUT it is
floating above the press gamut.
So in essence the color you are describing from the press sheet with
the reference images, is out of gamut of the initial profiling press
run?
If this is the case, you are better off trying to edit the reference
(press) profile as this is where the problem originates, and leave
the proofer profile well alone.
One thing to check is that your densities between the two press runs
is even across the page. if not either your original profile or your
reference images will be seriously skewed, which will lead to
inaccurate proofs no matter what you do. If your reference pressrun
doesn't closely correspond to the profiling run, you may easily have
certain colors which is very hard to reproduce correctly, while
others may be fine.
If you are doubting whether something can be reproduced try an open
Colorpicker, select the proofer profile, and measure the color in
question with a spectrophotometer. Then you will see not only how
close the color can be reproduced visually and numerically.
Hope this helps
