Right. With photographic printing, every pixel can be any color. We don't
have to simulate colors by placing four colored dots around in a pattern, so
we don't need to sample those dots from a larger field of resolution. No
oversampling is necessary, but we do have to pay attention to visual acuity
at the final viewing distance for the printed piece.
at 10 inches, 20/20 vision has a resolution of 344 ppi,
at 12 inches, it's 286 ppi,
at 20 inches, it's 172 ppi,
at 10 feet, it's 29 ppi, and
at 100 feet it's 3 ppi !

a Lambda is a photographic printer that projects a (three) laser(s)
on photographic emulsion at 200 or 400dpi. No linescreen involved,
thus no multiplication factor. If you want the size you want you NEED
to have 1:1 resolution - or interpolate the data to 200 or 400ppi.
