Title: Re: Strange converion behavior
I haven't heard much mention of ProfilerPro in recent discussions. Where does this profiling package rate in the big picture. I use it with a SpectroCam, but I am interested in the opinions of you real color pros. Thanks.

No, they really shouldn’t. You will see a reduction in the saturation but blue should not shift/look cyan or magenta! It’s been a common issue with profiles from many manufacturers in the past but it’s not something you should automatically expect and accept.

I agree. I did the same conversion with 4.7 and it nice and smooth with exceptional blues.

You got blue, right? That wasn’t always the case. One of my big beefs with previous versions was both the smoothness of the blues and the shifting. 4.7 is now up there with my “gold standard” for blues which has been the GMB packages. In fact, 4.7 seems to be smoother and I measured a few less patches to build the RGB profile.

The PerfX profile had a slight  purplish tendency to the blues and some banding

That’s exactly what I see in a spectral gradient and of course the Granger Rainbow is another useful file for seeing this kind of stuff. Banding is kind of bad, shifting is really bad. It’s interesting to output the same test images with this kind of synthetic stuff using multiple profiles from different packages to the same printer.
