We are a mid-size fast growing printing company that
dove into the realm of color management. We got rid of
our old proofing devices and went with Epson 10600 and
9600 proofing devices. We had color consultants, (Two
different consultant groups), come in and run
linearized press tests to come up with dot gain
curves, and a press to proof profile that was used to
run our Epson proofs using GMG software. We are
experiencing difficulty at times making that proof to
press match and our press room foreman gets upset at
the trouble this direction has taken us at times. Some
of these issues are mechanical such as banding in the
proof which gets to the press room by mistake. Others
are a press issue, and yet some defy reason. This
brings me to my point. I know that in GMG you can
Calibrate the Epson proofers back to a state of
calibration based on the MX3 file, but I have to
assure good proofs beyond that. I need some
software/hard ware that I could use on a daily basis
to check any given proof and be able to illustrate
that the current proof is within a Delta E tolerance
from proof to proof. I tried to configure a way using
the control strip in GMG on the proofs and reading the
data in using Eye one and Profile Maker measure and
Compare tools to give me a Delta E reading
comparision. The problem is there are 46 patches which
have to be read one by one by hand and the Eye one
lacks some of the true densitometric features that
make this an easy and or accurate task. Can anyone
suggest of any such automated accurate pakage that I
could use to accomplish this task. Our company is in
desperate need of quality control tools for this, so
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
