Hi Steve,
I don't have much to add to the comments on this thread, but I'm
following it with a great deal of interest, as I am doing research for
a
pre-press proofing system for our company, and I was just looking at
the
GMG ColorProof/Epson 7600 combination, as well as similar systems, in
the IPA Color Proofing RoundUP from last spring.
I recently looked into this issue. I think it is a very important part
of Inkjet proofing and often overlooked.
Stand Alone:
1) ColorShopX 1.4 supports eye-one but no label printing option and
only spot measurement option -
we need a strip option for it to fly.
2) GMG ProofControl: only Eye-one support - this is too limiting.
Unsure of price but estimate at $2,500.00
3) SpectraShop from Robin Myers: I have not tried it but understand it
is a spot option as well. No Label printer.
4) QC Color Server: 3-4,000.00 ? Too complicated and expensive.
5) QC Color Desktop: $650.00 - Definitely a contender - Eye-one
support and all X-Rite options (Pulse!!)
6) BasICColor Control - Difficult GUI.
7) CGS: Proof Check. Expensive.
8) Color Metrix: GcX - has very good potential - still Beta. I am told
it will be out soon.
9) DriftView from ICC Tools: Still testing also has possibilities.
RIPs that offer internal proof verification, sold as an extra module:
1) EFI/Best Color XF: Remote/Verify
2) CGS: Proof Check
3) GMG: ProofControl
4) ProofMaster: Certify -> Fogra or GATF strip options.
