[off-topic] pdf printing problem

Hello to the list,

I have a problem regarding a pdf file I created on a mac. I know that
the workflow is very complex, but I try to give a brief description:

I created several eps files using Illustrator and tiff files using Photoshop
I placed them in QuarkXPress 6.5.
I output the layout as a postscript file using the Distiller 6 ppd.
I use Distiller 6.02 to create a PDF/X file.

Now the problem:

If I print the PDF out of Acrobat 6 to my magicolor laser printer,
the EPS files are not smooth. The Tiffs are OK.

If I directly print out of Quark to the magicolor, everything is OK.
If I view the file in Acrobat, its OK.
If I raster the file in Photoshop, its OK.

Now the surprise: If I print the file out of Acrobat 5 under OS9, its OK!

Now I'm unshure if the PDF is OK and I can give it to an offset-printer.

I'm googling now since 3 days, but can't find something that is near my problem.

Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks

Rolf Gierling
