Last year I bought my wife a G-5 and and Apple Cinema 23 Display (based upon
things I read in this group it seemed like a decent choice) for her
freelance graphic design/production business. In the last couple of months
she has been complaining of some color problems and I have been unable to
solve them.
She does a lot of layout in QuarkXPress and has notice that if she tints a
box at 10% or less it just doesn't show up (it is not just this program, I
am using this as the most obvious example).
The first thing I did was work up a new calibration (Pantone Colorvision
Spyder). No real change.
I talked to Apple and their minimal understanding of what I was trying to
say was not a lot of help. Although one person in tech support said maybe we
have a bad video card.
However, I have since talked to someone who uses this display daily doing
color work in PhotoShop (this was not his choice for a display for this kind
of work) and he said that is why he doesn't like them. He said it is normal
for the subtle colors not to show up because the 23s are too bright.
It is currently set at 6500, should I drop down to like 5500? I would really
like this display to work better but don't want the color to be incorrect.
Is what my friend saying true and we will just have to live with this?
Anybody have a suggestion, comment or some help for me?
Thanks in advance.
