Device link profiles are at-once the black sheep of the profile family and effective problem solvers.
I've been meaning to put together a white paper on them (in my copious free time<g>) but in the meantime I have mentioned them in Color Myth #25 in issue #16 of our ColorNews newsletter. It's a short blurb but it might help:

While our ColorThink will build basic device link profiles you should also look at Left Dakota's device link tools for advanced functions.
