I believe I can safely use the word "oxymoron", here, to describe my
impression of this 'device-independent RGB' because there is no such thing.
RGB is always referenced to some physical device, like a scanner or a
monitor or a camera, or to some abstract reference like Photoshop's
synthetic 'working space', like AdobeRGB or ColorMatchRGB.
