Been using a new Epson R1800 with only Epson inks. I guarantee it!
Did the custom icc profile, on the client's 7x10 rag note card paper. Client has nine different images to make 27 notes cards of each image.
There is just one image that refuses to print in detail. I can run Epson Enhanced Matte Paper through the R1800. The same Epson Enh Matte I run through my 9600. The print is gorgeous. I can print this print to my 9600 with matte black ink, and the print is gorgeous. I can even run this file through an Epson R320, using the canned profiles. The print is gorgeous, meaning there is ample detail. Maybe I would say stunning.
Trick is with the Epson R series to make the profiles with Profile Maker¹s Colorful rendering and print on perceptual. It¹s not perfect and is pushing the colors out of accurate printing but does increase detail in large flat areas of color such as grass , hair or any other more or less flat areas of color.

Neil.
I am quite puzzled. Using the custom profile, unchanged from original custom profile, I printed all 8 images as note cards, and client is/was ecstatic. All printed on the R1800.
I created a custom profile with the same note card stock for the Epson R320. Prints were perfect with the troublesome image file. Client was more than ecstatic with the print sample from the R320, so I finished the order using the R320 for this one image.
Moving on, I downloaded four Red River Mac profiles, three from Moab paper, and a whole bunch from the Epson Site. Not a one of the RR or Moab profiles printed a salable product. The few of the Epson canned profiles for the R1800 did no better. The only salable product for this one image came from the R320. This was all done on her note card stock from www.cardblanks.com.
Now that the pressure is over, using the same profile ,and print settings I had used for the other eight images, I ran Fuji-Hunt Smooth Fine Art 310 gsm sheets through the R1800 with the troublesome image. Look fine. Did same with E-Brush studios note card stock. Not salable, but better. And, I mentioned earlier I had run Epson Enh Matte paper through both the R1800 and the Pro 9600 with matte black ink. (Ultrachrome on the 9600) They all showed great detail.
Printing targets now with the Fuji-Hunt Smooth Fine art 310 gsm paper, on the R1800. In a day or two I will read the targets.
Best Regards
David
