PANTONE color bridge
coated EURO, released in April, is the 'next generation' of the popular PANTONE
solid to process guide coated EURO, which is now
discontinued.
PANTONE color bridge
coated EURO has been produced with a full digital CTP workflow. Unlike the
previous edition, the CMYK values were derived using ICC profile-based
conversion, with some visual 'tweaking' after-the-fact to produce the best
possible simulations for PANTONE colors. In addtion, we now also provide
sRGB and HTML data for the PANTONE solid colors, allowing these colors to be
repositioned for the Web as accurately as possible. As such, the product
provides a 'bridge' between the worlds of printing and Web design.
Given the changes in
workflow, PANTONE color bridge coated EURO utilizes a unique set of production
values, which are outlined in the copy pages of the Guide. As this product
is brand-new, I have not yet received a copy and as such I cannot publish the
worlflow for you. If you would like this information, please feel free to
contact me offline and I will do my best to get it for you. Please note,
however, that the product is available for purchase at this time. If you
would like to place an order, or obtain more information, I have provided below
a product link to the Pantone U.K Web site for the product:

In addition, Pantone has
attempted to address the issue of compatability with licensed software
application programs. Users can download the PANTONE color bridge
installer, which will load an explicit PANTONE color bridge coated EURO library
within leading graphics applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite,
Macromedia FreeHand, CorelDRAW, and others. One notible exception is
QuarkXPress; unfortunately we could not obtain Quark's cooperation in producing
a library for Quark. However, as a workaround we do provide a blank
QuarkXPress document with the PANTONE colors loaded in its color list, tagged
with the updated CMYK simulation values. These colors are easily imported
into an active Quark document using the 'append' command in Quark. Please
refer to the online documentation contained with the installer for full
details.
To download the
installer, you must first register at myPantone. Once you have registered,
look for the PANTONE color bridge link in the 'my products and tools' section on
the left-hand side of the screen. Again, please feel free to contact me
offline if you need assistance working with myPantone
registration.
Thank you for your continued interest
in PANTONE products.
Best regards,
John Stanzione
