I'm planning to replace my workstation sometime this year and am
unclear what the conventional wisdom is re: CRT vs LCD monitors when
working on photographs in Photoshop to create fine-art prints on an
inkjet printer.
I currently use what was once considered a very good CRT monitor - the
Mitsubishi 2040u - which I've been very happy with. I'm using a
ColorVision puck to calibrate.
A friend who has both CRT and LCD monitors side-by-side says he still
does all his P'shop work on the CRT because, in his opinion, it more
accurately reflects the printer gamut and output.
Is there a decided preference in the professional photo community? If
CRT is still optimal, can anyone recommend which ones are considered to
be best for this type of work?
Thanks.
