Stephen,
Have a look at our website. We have a solution that is capable of matching
over 93% of the Pantone library below 3DeltaE.
We can also guarantee same results from any application.
We strip the built in information from design applications and replace them
with our own values to ensure consistency and best possible match from any
application.
If you dig into the achieves here you will find a mail from Pantone.

"There are rips with which Pantone has worked to develop a workflow
whereby the postscript file passes the PANTONE Color name to the rip. The
rip then replaces the name with the L*a*b* data so that it can get color
managed as accurately as possible.

Since then we have pushed the boundaries and by introducing our Extrachrome
ink set improved Pantone matching even further.
You can download our measurement of 1109 Pantone colors and the DeltaE
difference we can deliver from our website.
We have been concentrating on solving the most challenging problems of the
Printing industry, The Flexo and Packaging sectors in specific
Such as:
Pantone Proofing.
Hexachrome Proofing.
Multicolor proofing.
Proofing Bump colors.
Have a look at the results and compare with you experiences in the past.
You can see in our Extrachrome presentation results from 3 ink jet printers.
Epson Ultrachrome, Epson Extrachrome and Canon 8200
