OK, really old stuff. Maybe trying some of the newer packages like
Eye-One Match or Monaco
Is there an idiots guide out there to help me out.
Not that I have found... Welcome to the idiot's guide to CM.
Do I also need a screen calibrator / magic eye.
YES! - I have used both the Gretag-Macbeth Eye One Display and the
X-Rite Monaco Optix with great success. Both of these are around the
$250-$270 (US) price point and are available widely from different
vendors on the internet.
If you really want to step up to the plate ($1500-$1800 US), look at
the Gretag Eye-One Photo or the cool new X-Rite Pulse. These will not
only calibrate your screen but allow you to create both scanner and
printer profiles with the bundled software, much better than the older
Agfa software.
