Hi Roger,
You mentionned our software: PerfX Color Management Pro, in your
question about neutralizing the black point.
Yes, we do neutralize the black point in profiles created with PerfX
CM Pro. This insure to get neutral dark color "under black".
If you convert an image with CMYK profile and then, hide th black
channel in Photoshop, you will notice that many profiler leave the
black point to reach the darkest lab value without taking care for
the neutrality up to that point. That is what we do.
Also, ink coverage values for perceptual, or rel colorimetric are
always the same.
Hope this clarify the subject and shows to all where to look for
evaluating CMYK profile.

Okay default black point values non neutralized. How's that for
misconfusion? You have to click on the neutralize black point to
CM that
shadows in PM. If you don't you are setting only the darkest point
to the
measured values but not color managing the said measured black point.
Some color management system. Monaco or Fuji or Kodak or PrintOpen
(PerfX?)
don't do black point mapping in this inintuitive way. Does PMP way
afford
any advantage? I mean why don't they make this function automatic?
