This is going to be fun watching, I can tell ;-)

Sounds good.

I don't see why not. I use one here in my own monitor calibration but I
don't mind using the Monaco Optix or the EyeOneDisplayII or the SpyderII. As
a matter of fact, my Eizo CG21 has bee calibrated for a while with the Optix
and basICColor Display v3.0.4.

Well, why not elevate your journalism to the level of science?

You could use MeasureTool but you could also, and I'd personally encourage
anyone wanting to do some serious colorimetric stuff with an EyeOne
spectrophotometer to invest in the latest version of BabelColor -- it blows
my mind. And you can use that as a tool to make all your readings.

Here you're getting into normalization issues, which BabelColor is going to
lead you true very elegantly and very easily. Its a an important point of
measurement methodology that I cannot stress enough.

Right.

Hey, both of our prayers have been answered!

Not with a PhD in applied maths?

Absolutely. The more widespread the information about this the less ignorant
people will be and the more demanding they will become. Which in turn will
have manufacturer more stringent about their products.
