So, Bob, you print from what application? You print, but divert the
print
stream to a "system" PDF by pressing the Save as PDF button? And you're
saying that this PDF is devoid of any profile?
No.
When you print from an OS X application, it produces a pdf. I don't
know what you mean by "print stream." Pressing the Save as PDF button
gives you a chance to save the pdf, that application was producing as a
response to a print command, in a location of your choosing rather than
having it sent on to the rest of the printing architecture. PDF's
produced in this manner *have* a profile. Illustrator seems not to
recognize this. What I'd like to know is if this is because Illustrator
has a problem or because the profiles are somehow defective.
