I mean whathever would have been sent to the printer is 'captured'
into a
PDF.
This is where I think you are misunderstanding something. The only
thing that is going to the printing system under *ANY* circumstances is
a pdf. The button merely allows you grab it a keep it yourself. When it
comes time to actually drive the printer, the printing system takes the
pdf file and in conjunction with the printer driver processes the pdf
into whatever your particular printer likes to eat.
Could you possibly send me a small sample PDF offlist? I have an idea.
Sure, but why ? Just open TextEdit, type in some text (colored if you
want an RGB rather than grayscale profile) and then do Print and then
Save as PDF...
