Calibrate the film recorder Richard? I guess you could call it film
profiling. Its a CELCO ExtremeFx16 (for sale by the way). I generate a
stepped wedge of Red Green and Blue in a tiff file in Photoshop. This
is sent to the film recorder and a film frame is exposed, developed,
and the respective wedges are read on a transmission densitometer. The
values read are fed into a program supplied by CELCO to correct the
errors. After 2 or 3 exposures, readings, and corrections the film is
reading accurate densities (that is, what I generated in the stepped
wedge in Photoshop). This must be done for each film type, scanning
speed, and resolution.

David

You'll still have the"X" factor of your scanner and its profile. Why
not create your own chart in P.S., where you know what the numbers will
be. That's how we calibrate our film recorder.
That's interesting, how do you do that?
Richard
