I think you’ll still have differences between vendors…perhaps due to
grid size selection, black generation, ect (CMM not withstanding). But
visually the results will generally be the same.
There will be effects at the edges of the gamut, even for in gamut
colors, because the grid is of finite resolution. I.e. a grid node
that falls within the gamut will be exact, while its neighbour grid
point that falls outside the gamut will be a clipped value. Between
these two nodes, colors will be interpolated, resulting in
values somewhere between exact and clipped.
