John,
There are 3 important steps:
1) calibrate your screen. I use the Monaco Optix system and I get good
results on my 15" PowerBook.
2) find a profile for your printer. Epson has free profiles for the 7600
and the 9600, but I don't know about the 1280. Ask.
3) make sure that you load your profile into the proper place on the Mac,
and check to see that it appears in the print with preview window of
Photoshop.
