But if I remember correctly, one of the (Ex) Apple-John's wrote that
the system will create new ones if they get deleted.

Well I'm only a bit of a 'john' but you are right, the system will create another GenericRGB (or CMYK or LAB or Gray) to replace the deleted one in OS X.2.x and OSX.3.x. We haven't got Tiger yet, but I haven't read anything to say this policy has changed.

Nonetheless, it appears as if Apple has chosen to make a 'Microsoft Move' and dummy down their next great OS update. (I like the Widgets because I've used Konfabulator for years.)

So, since we are stuck with yet another form of GenericRGB, and another ambiguous workaround (TBA), I suppose this means those of us who have to advise our clients to convert to GenericRGB to get through their current OS RGB-printing pipelines (or tack on Gimpprint) should just continue to do so.

And I suppose we also continue to place our aliases in various locations and move all our profiles to one single target folder...

And I suppose no-one bothered to change Color Management in the menus to say Current Apple Default...

And I suppose there really is no reason to update if your color is now working fine (after all the necessary workarounds are in place) unless, of course, you don't have Konfabulator already and want to play with Widgets...

And gasp...
...It just baffles me that appears to me to be a simple color architecture can be blithered about on assumptions everyone wants to use pissy, small, extinct colorspaces.

Well, lets see what Longhorn produces. If anything it keeps the lists busy....;0)
