Maybe what Thomas Holm was saying about iQueue not handling postscript 3 correctly. You could utilize postscript level 2.
With Illustrator I'd expand the patterns before printing anyway. Illustrator is just friggin' hard to control in the printing/prepress world. So many of those effects flatten/rasterize in unexpected ways.
Another idea would be to submit Illustrator EPS's or PDF's to iQueue.
