Walter, Don,
Thanks for the replys, it's good to know i'm not alone in this.
Walter, our scans also come out way too dark. Unfortunately this is the only scanner we have, so I have to use for both reflective and trannies. I normally scan (transparencies) in 16bit with no finishing selected. Then just assign my workingspace and color correct it manualy in photoshop. Not ideal, but the quickest way i've found to get a descent scan out of it.
Don, that was really interesting. Funny that the manual explains the importance of getting a good raw RGB scan for profiling, and then don't offer the tools to do so.
Let me know if you find a way to tame the beast!
Cheers
jorgen

Jörgen, I hear-ya!
We are running a Cezanne FT-S5500 with ColorGenius EX 2.1.2.
We've been told to simply switch off "Setup" under "Detail Setup". Another suggestion by a Screen contact was to leave that switch on, but deselect all "Finish" options.
Our experiences have been that with reflection work (prints) we have been able to produce a fairly good profile, good enough for production with some colour correction post scan.
Our struggle is with transmission work (slides and transparencies). Here we have not been satisfied with the profile produced. When we assign the scanner profile the images always become extremely dark - too dark for use. As of today (we've had the scanner for about 4 months) we are not using it for any transmission work.
We have not found a way in which to specify a given gamma and density end points.
