There is something to consider on this. . .adaptive color memory. Think of
it as learned and (thank God) temporary color blindness.
The brain adapts to the light we use for extended periods and actually skews
our perception of other light sources to match those sources. This is to say
spend a few hours a day, every day in the old plating/proofing room under
yellow filters and your brain will see the normal full spectrum world with a
bit of a yellow filter. The effect can last for several weeks after removal
from the filtered light environment. Your eyes still take in what they take
in, but the amplitude of the different wavelengths are adapted in the brain
on the fly to bring them somewhere to within _normal_ for what you are used
to seeing. That's why using good light is important _all_ the time. It's
really quite interesting/amazing (the mind) and an important thing in
explaining color memory in general.
On the up-side, if you wear rose colored glasses just part of the time you
can back way off of the prozac ;)
