Hello Walter, Jorgen and Don.
It took awhile for me to figure this out also, but here is what I
discovered.
To profile the Cezanne flatbed scanner correctly you need to do the
following.
Example: You have 10 35mm trans to scan.
After you prescan the images draw a marquee around the first image.
DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THE IMAGE!
Just use the zoom tool to make your preview larger.
(If you double click within the marquee, the AI function will take
over, and it will set end point wherever)
Click on the Manual Fine Adjustment button and enter your desired white
point and black point.
Turn off SHARPNESS, GRAY AXIS, VIVID COLOR, RETOUCH COLOR.
Click OK.
Now here is the most important step.
DO NOT MAKE A NEW MARQUEE FOR EACH SUCCESSIVE IMAGE. JUST DRAG THE
MARQUEE OVER TO THE
NEXT IMAGE.( ENTER THE FILE NAME AND ADD TO BATCH) YOU CAN RESIZE THE
MARQUEE , BUT DO MAKE A NEW
MARQUEE.
If you make a new marquee all of your settings get thrown away and set
to whatever's hard wired in.
Don's right about the endpoints especially in the shadows. The software
still seems to do something. As a result you
will need to blur the darker areas of your target to make each patch
more homogenous.
(I'm using Don's target by the way)
My trans settings are 0.10 and 3.5
Still working on the reflective but it looks like it will be about 0.0
and 2.4
This scanner has a lot of flare so your trans must be masked on their
edges somehow.
I'm using a black holder that holds 50 slides.
I would also recommend a black backing around your reflectives.
If you try to profile and scan without blocking out the extraneous
light , this won't work. (I know I tried)
Hope this helps
