Andrew,
Do you know or can you measure the Dmax for solid blacks in a color and
in a B&W print on matte and art papers? To my mind, a deeper black
would be significant.

Have any of the resident color gurus heard more about (or seen) the new
Epson Stylus Photo R2400 than was noted in the press release this week?
The Ultrachrome K3 inks with their expanded gamut, reduced bronzing and
high-gloss microcrystal encapsulation appear to be a fantastic advance.
Had one a few months and it's pretty impressive. VERY fast, beautiful B&W
directly from the driver. The gamut of it compared to the 2200 is not that
different in shear volume but there are areas where the 2400 gamut is going
to be a better fit. Reds and yellows and blue greens are a bit wider for
one.
