Title: Re: Epson 5000 colour adjustments (with RIP)
Matt,
Ive a customer that has same setup. We set the Fiery (I presume that’s what youre using
for RIP) to the following:
RGB Source:EFIRGB
Rendering Style: Color Proofing-Photo
CMYK Simulation Profile: SWOP-COM/M
Pure Black Text/Graphics: On
Colour Management switched off in Quark
Printing to coated paper at 720dpi they are happy with the output.
Trying to colour manage the 5000 is something I gave up on a while back as
achieving a linear grey balance just wasn’t possible. Ive tried different Rips and and even going out
straight RGB from Mac drivers. The only success Ive had was with the iProof software
RIP but unfortunately due to its large dot is unsuitable for photographic prints.
It does however produce a nice even greyscale strip.
Some people have been more successful with Best RIP but Ive personally
not tried this.
Regards,
Pete Carter

Subject: Epson 5000 colour adjustments (with RIP)
Hello List-members:
I have two Epson 5000's with RIPs. I am printing from Quark 5.0 using OSX 10.3.7. I have selected "Photographic" intents in the RIP colour setup.
When printing photo images with Quark, most of the images are muddy and grey. Solids appear fine (i.e. CMYK solids). When printing the same image to an Epson 1280, the image appears fine.
Can anybody suggest the optimal RIP and Quark settings (possibly in the "Printer" dialog box) for use with the 5000?
