There are a few reasons why a Colorimeter optimized for display calibration
can sometimes produce superior results compared to a Spectrophotometer. IOW,
a Spectrophotometer isn't always automatically better.

I appreciate your point but regardless of filters for whichever technology you choose, good software needs to start with a repeatable device.
IMHO, X-rite builds devices that at least appear to be more the same as one another in terms of "unit to unit" repeatability.
