I personally find that color management is still both widely misunderstood
and (as a consequence) underappreciated.
So, I find that compensation for services in this area are a tough sell,
with clients wincing at ANY figure you give them.
My advice? Start HIGH, because you are worth it. Then meet them somewhere
lower, but not much. If you feel shy or uncertain and start with a low
figure yourself, then that's certainly what you will get.
This is an all-new field, and standards are not yet set, as far as I know.
What I DO know is that color management saves a heck of a lot of dough to
those who adopt it (in time and consumables saved, in increased
productivity, in added value for the customers, etc.). Think of your
compensation as a small percentage of that, and all of a sudden any
lingering "guilt" evaporates...
