Do we know how far do those new primaries definition expands in XYZ or yxY?
Say compared to WideGamutRGB or ProPhoto. I'm trying to get a grasp for the
size of this thing. Any URL?
Not off hand. Most of the URLs are descriptive rather than quantitative.
I would suspect it larger than ICC Lab though.
You mean the portion over 1.0 to 7.5?
My god, that's huge specular component!
Not as specular components go. It's rather inefficiently encoded in linear
light space though.

I would imagine it's designed to store camera "raw" type information,
so that later it can be run through a spatial or non-spatially aware
tone mapping algorithm for display on conventional output devices, or
for display on a high dynamic range output device.
No, they are separate things. XPS is the
so called "PDF killer", a page description language.
It seems to depend on ICC profiles for it's color
definitions.
How ironic.
Pragmatic is probably a better word.
