The Imation CMM was an example. Regardless of what intent you
specified for rendering an image, it would use only a particular
table (I believe the device to PCS colorimetric table) only, and then
did it's only gamut mapping, and built a proprietary device link
profile behind the scenes then cached it to disk. If you used that
same source-destination-intent combination again, it used the
devicelink that was previously cached, otherwise it had to rebuild a
new one.
